Exclusively for the exhibition at Lobby, Dima Rebus presents works from the series "Cotton Buds, Cotton Pads," which began in 2011. The works are drawn from the artist's personal archive and are being presented to the public for the first time, with some pieces completed in 2023. The exhibition also includes works temporarily borrowed from private collections and large-scale watercolors from one of the artist’s main series — "Exoplanet."
"Cotton Buds, Cotton Pads" is a series of works from 2011-2013 that significantly contributed to shaping the artist's subsequent creative path. In this series, Dima makes one of his first attempts to conceptualize adaptive norms, a theme that runs through all the artist’s later series. The surrealistic scenes demonstrate a reverse cargo cult, illustrating imitation under specific circumstances.
