Artwin Gallery in collaboration with Smena presents the solo exhibition "Norms of Insolation" by artist Dima Rebus from Naberezhnye Chelny.
"Norms of Insolation" is the artist's first solo exhibition in his native region. The exhibition will feature works from several series created by the artist over the past 7 years. This project will present both new works and retrospective series, allowing viewers to trace the evolution of the meaning-forming elements of the universe created by the artist. Dima Rebus is known for his detailed watercolor works in an unusually large format for this technique. Rebus explores themes of adaptive norms and their evolving parameters for contemporary society. In his constructed world, alarmist moods are replaced by a more philosophical, detached view, accepting the facts of isolation or disappearance as natural stages in the cycle of existence. The carefully constructed compositions reflect the artist's fascination with computer gaming culture and early digital interactive experiences.
The focus of the exhibition at Smena is on the "Insolation" series, which narrates the search for well-calibrated "parameters" for life. Rebus's detailed works presented at the exhibition merge the aesthetics of abstract, cartoonish, and realistic techniques. The works are created using one of the most labor-intensive watercolor techniques with chemical solutions developed by the artist. "Norms of Insolation" is a multifaceted project that discusses art "on this side and that side of the window," extending beyond the walls of the art institution. In addition to the exhibition within the gallery space, a public art project is planned — the installation of light sculptures on the Smena building.
