The exhibition STORE.ARTWINGALLERY.COM 2020
The works by street artist RADYA are often inspired by anonymous graffiti, accidentally dropped phrases, poems. The inscription The more light, the less one can see on a residential apartment building in Almaty was born on the Russky Island in Vladivostok. In July 2015, the artist with a group of friends made his way along a rocky night path. Everyone stumbled over the cobblestones and tried to illuminate the road with flashlights, but the light created deep shadows due to uneven terrain and blinded the eyes. At some point, a friend suggested turning off the flashlights, "otherwise the more light, the less one can see". The artist, after hearing this phrase, immediately payed attention to it and wrote it down. The letters of the neon installation light up with electric light at night, and are practically invisible in daylight.
